This Privacy Policy explains how the Doti Chores mobile application and the website at chorehops.com (together, the “Service”) collect, use, and protect your information. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Who the Service is for
Doti Chores is a family chore-and-reward organizer used by parents and guardians (adults). Adults create the family account and manage child profiles. Child profiles are set up and controlled by the parent; the app does not ask children to create their own accounts or provide personal contact information.
2. Information we collect
| Category | Examples | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account data | Adult name, email address, hashed password, or the identifier from your Apple/Google sign-in | To create and secure your account and sign you in |
| Family content | Family name, child profile names/avatars, chores, rewards, coin balances and history | To provide the core features you set up |
| Purchase data | Subscription status, plan, transaction identifiers from Apple/Google | To verify and manage Doti Premium |
| Device & advertising data | Device identifiers and an advertising identifier (where you consent), app interaction events | Ads for adults on the free plan, and to keep the app working |
| Support data | Messages you send us | To answer your questions |
We do not collect precise location, photos from your library (other than an avatar image you explicitly choose), contacts, or microphone data.
3. Children’s privacy
We take children’s privacy seriously and design the Service to comply with the EU GDPR (including protections for children) and the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Child profiles contain only the information a parent chooses to enter (such as a first name or nickname and an avatar). They are not advertising profiles.
- The child experience (kiosk mode) does not show advertising and does not request personal data from the child.
- Advertising and tracking, where used at all, apply only to the adult part of the app and only with consent.
- Parents can view, edit, or delete a child profile and its data at any time from within the app.
4. Advertising & consent
On the free plan we may show ads to adults using Google AdMob. Before any personalized advertising or tracking, we ask for your consent through an in-app consent screen (and, on iOS, the App Tracking Transparency prompt). You can decline, and you can remove ads entirely with a Doti Premium subscription. Children and Premium families are never shown ads.
5. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service;
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- To process and verify subscriptions;
- To show ads to adults on the free plan (subject to consent);
- To respond to support requests and comply with legal obligations.
6. Sharing & third parties
We do not sell your personal data. We share limited data with service providers that help us run the Service, including:
- Apple and Google — for sign-in, app distribution, payments/subscriptions, and (Google AdMob & UMP) advertising;
- our hosting provider, which stores the data needed to run the Service.
These providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies.
7. Data retention & deletion
We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete child profiles and family content in the app, and you can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing support@chorehops.com. We will delete or anonymize data that we are not required to keep for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
8. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections, passwords are stored only as salted hashes, and authentication tokens are kept in the device’s secure storage. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To exercise these rights, contact support@chorehops.com. EU/EEA users may also lodge a complaint with their local data protection authority.
10. International transfers
Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
